Going Camping

We're heading to the cabin for Labor Day weekend. I still have a ton of stuff to get done before we leave. I wasn't able to do any of our packing or shopping yesterday because I was busy making a Dora the Explorer cake. Also, Caleb had another soccer game yesterday. He did a good job again. Alex said, "Caleb is really good at soccer." Alex also looked a little sad that he couldn't go out and play with them. He chose to play basketball this winter. I'm sure he'll like it just as well. I will post some pictures from our weekend when we get back. Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!

Soccer Starts

Caleb started his soccer team today. There are 8 kids on his team. They got new jerseys (made by Smash Athletics where Grandma Holt works). They started by practicing some techniques. It took a pep talk from Dad to get Caleb to actually go out and join his team. He was excited when we signed him up, but then became shy and nervous when we got there. He broke out of his shell and had a lot of fun.
After a short practice they played a game against another team. It was so funny to watch these little 4 and 5 year olds learn to play soccer. Caleb did really well and even made a goal!

Check-ups

We went to the doctor today for Caleb's 5-year old check-up and Leah's 3-year old check-up. They're both growing nicely and are healthy kids.

Caleb weighs 40 lbs (48th percentile) and is 43.5" tall (66th percentile). He is all caught up on his immunizations so he didn't need any shots today. He was happy about that.
Leah weighs 36 lbs (89th percentile) and is 39.5" tall (94th percentile). She was actually looking forward to getting a "flu shot" (what she calls all shots), but she didn't need any immunizations today either.
They both left the doctor office with a sticker, sucker, and a smile. I love it when they can leave the doctor's office happy.

School Starts!

Today was Alex's first day of 1st Grade. He was so excited to start school again. They tore down his old school and are rebuilding it, but it won't be done for another 16 months so the kids are all going to a different school this year. Since the school is so far away from where we live, Alex gets to ride a school bus to school! He loves it, and he had a great 1st day of school.

Leah's 3rd Birthday

Leah had a princess birthday party. Angela made her castle birthday cake. Leah loved it, especially the flowers on it! After her party she sneaked into the kitchen and stole more cake! Here she is caught red-handed! (or maybe more like chocolate-handed)

She got a lot of princess stuff. Mom and Dad got her 4 princess dress-up costumes. Her brothers got her a doll, Gigi, and that ended up being her favorite present.

Our Summer Update

At the beginning of summer we went to Flagstaff, AZ for my brother's graduation from Northern Arizona University. After his graduation we went to Disneyland with my parents, and my brother's family. It was a lot of fun. The kids' favorite ride was the Buzz Lightyear ride. Here is a picture of us with Buzz Lightyear.

We also went to Heber, UT this summer to see Thomas the Train. We've gone every year, but this year all of the activities that were free in past years weren't free. So, we might not go next year. The kids all still love to go and see the big Thomas the Tank Engine.
It wouldn't be summer without going to a few parades also. Here is a picture of us at the Art City Days parade in Springville.

Our friends in our ward, the Weber family, moved to Highland and left behind their old swingset. They didn't want to move it with them, so they offered it to us. We were so thankful to get it. Jon fixed it up, bought new swings for it, and staked it into the ground so it was stable. Our kids love playing outside on it.
We also went to the Veteran's Memorial Pool, Scera Pool, a Salt Lake Bee's baseball game, an Orem Owlz baseball game, a few good movies, and just had a lot of fun. We hope everyone else had a great summer too.
