Still No Cake Classes!

So, after the Orem Roberts store's classroom had been closed for the past 6 months they finally reopened it for classes. My first class was scheduled for tonight. I had my cake baked and everything, ready to go teach, and then I found out that not enough people signed up and my classes got cancelled! How sad! I was looking forward to getting into the swing of things again. So, I just frosted the cake simply and we had some of it for dessert tonight. My kids were excited to eat cake, but I wish I could have started teaching. So, if anyone is interested in taking cake decorating classes you should go sign up. My next class will start April 5th if all goes well. I'll have more time to advertise this class so it should be able to fill up.

Daddy Cooked Us Dinner

I was busy on the computer filing our amended tax return, because Provo Craft messed up on my income, and I came into the kitchen to start dinner when I saw Jon making dinner for me! I was so happy. He made dough to make homemade tortillas and was frying them up. He used to work at Celebrations Cafe when he was in high school and learned how to make some good food there. He made us MexiGrills for dinner. They tasted fabulous! They are a homemade tortilla filled with refried beans, taco meat, cheese, lettuce and sour cream.

The most amazing part of it was all of our kids ate every bite! AND they did it without complaining. We will definately be having Daddy make this for us again!

Eagle Scout

Our familiy went to an Eagle Court of Honor last night. One of the boys that Jon was a scout leader over got his Eagle Scout Award. He asked Jon to present him with the award. It was a great honor for Jon. He never received his Eagle Scout as a teenager and has loved being a scout leader over the years to help motivate others to get theirs. It was a great ceremony. There was a presentation showing the 3 Eagle scouts on their journey to become an Eagle. It was great to see how this young man has grown over the years. Congratulations Evan!

Leah's room is done!....almost

I finally went back to Kmart to get Leah some king sized pillow shams and a bed skirt. Well, the set I bought for her doesn't have king sized pillow shams, so I just bought her some pink king-sized pillow cases. The set also didn't have any bed skirts that went along with it. So, I luckily found a bed skirt that was purple and matched her bed set perfectly. I really love her room. It's so girly! Leah loves her "pink and purple" room. I have to say that I LOVE it too. Now, the only thing left to do is build her dresser. She has a white 4-drawer dresser that we're still in the process of building. We have one of the boys dressers made. One down, two to go!

Organizing

We bought our kids all some new toy organizers. Hopefully it will help them keep their rooms cleaner. I also bought Leah a new bed set and curtains for her bedroom. I still need to get a bed skirt and a few more pillowcases/shams. She really likes it. I think it looks great in her room too.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day is probably one of my favorite holidays. I like making heart shaped food and pink/red food all day. My mom would always make us pink pancakes on Valentines Day. I thought about making the famous pink heart shaped pancakes, but I opted to make pink Cream of Wheat for breakfast. I even topped it with red sprinkles. I think I went a little too far with the food coloring because it turned out DARK pink!

For lunch I made heart shaped sandwiches with sliced red apples. Caleb's sandwiches were his favorite: cheese and pickle. Leah's were pb&j.

I spend all day de-cluttering our house, so when Jon and Alex got home I wasn't in the mood to make something for dinner. I suggested to go get some pizzas, so that's what we had for dinner. Jon gets grossed out by food-colored food, so going with naturally red foods works out better for him. I lightly tinted the ranch dressing pink. It was hardly noticable, but Jon said, "this doesn't look quite right." So I told him I tried tinting it a little pink so he wouldn't be grossed out.

Now we're going to watch Cinderella and have a nice quiet evening at home in our clean and clutter-less house!

Shirley Temple

When I knew I was having a girl I was hoping that she would have my curly hair. Leah has a little bit of curl, but not as much as I did at her age. So, I LOVE putting curlers in her hair. (She doesn't love it as much...in fact it took a LOT of convincing to finally get her to agree to wear curlers all night).
So, this is her finished hair the next day. I think she looks so cute! We went to computer class that day and she wore her sweater with a hood. She wanted to wear the hood, "so no one can see my curls." She enjoyed looking at herself in the mirror and liked wearing the headband. My mom said she looked just like Shirley Temple.
